Cynthia L. Long is a board certified general surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive general and bariatric surgery. Dr. Long received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed a general surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital combined program. After several years in practice at New York Downtown Hospital in New York City, she pursued and subsequently completed a fellowship in advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C.
She is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (formerly ASBS) and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
Dr. Long's areas of special interest are in minimally invasive abdominal surgery, which in addition to weight loss surgery, includes surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease, colorectal disease, complex hernias, and gallbladder disease. She also has a special interest in incorporating new minimally-invasive technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease.
