Our commitment is to provide key information that will allow patients to make informed decisions about their weight and overall health. A healthier, active, energetic patient is our collective goal. Our goal is not short-term weight loss, but rather a long-term approach to a chronic condition. We value your health and our staff is committed to assisting you on your weight loss journey.

Dr. Cynthia Long has been performing weight-loss surgery since 2003 and performs the Roux-en-Y Bypass surgery as well as the Laparoscopic Gastric Banding Procedures for morbid obesity with great success. It is perhaps the most satisfying part of her practice due to the tremendous change and the positive impact it has on the lives of patients.

Dr. Long performs both conventional surgical treatments, where appropriate, as well as minimally invasive laparoscopic treatments requiring advanced surgical training and skills. If you have a specific area of concern and would like to consult with Dr. Long regarding your circumstances, we would be happy to meet with you, discuss your condition, and review the surgical alternatives open to you.

We are proud to offer a broad range of general surgery procedures to complement our many specialty procedures. The list to the right represents the majority of standard general surgery procedures we perform. If you are concerned with an area of general surgery that you do not see listed, we would be happy to discuss your specific health concern with you.

Laparoscopic surgery utilizes the laparoscope – a thin tube with a small camera on the end and long instruments which are inserted through the one-centimeter abdominal incisions into the abdominal cavity which is distended with an inert gas, carbon dioxide, in order to create a working space. Laparoscopic surgery was first very popular with gallbladder surgery and has since expanded into many abdominal operations.
